I was getting DTC codes for the blend door actuators (forgot the actual code). I tore the dash apart and removed the actuators and sure enough a plastic gear was cracked on both of them. I just installed two brand new Dorman actuators. My dash cover and center console are all off the car as is the Bose amplifier. Should I be able to test these actuators to see whether DTC codes are gone? I'm getting a HVAC No COMM and TCS No Comm right now, which I think is odd. I really don't want to start putting stuff back on the car until I'm sure I fixed the problem.
I'd run the car for a bit and make sure the battery is charged up. Sometimes when we are doing interior work we can drain the battery and get even more codes.
While the car is on clear all codes. Cycle through hot, cold, in-board air, recirculate, etc. so the actuators can cycle. I know that is one way it check's itself for codes by going through it's range of motion. Good luck!
I replaced both driver and passenger side actuators. I'm charging the battery now with a charger. I was surprised by how low it was. I've had it disconnected for a couple of days now. I'll do the cycle through and post back my results. Thanks!
So, I charged the battery as full as it could go. That seemed to take care of a lot of the codes that I hadn't seen before. Thanks for that 02Torch!
I was still getting intermittent TCS No COMM and HVAC No Comm. When HVAC is on, actuators work great (I can see them fine without the dash on), but HVAC wouldn't come on consistently. Sometimes it would come on after 2 or 3 minutes with key in ON position, sometimes never. I did notice that whenever HVAC came on, TCS lights would go off at the same time. When they worked, no codes were thrown. After reading several posts on similar issues, what struck me was that both HVAC and TCS share the same ground. It's the one closest to the battery. I thought I had cleaned it up with a shot of spray. I took that battery out and cleaned the $H!t out of it with a Dremel and wire wheel. HVAC comes on consistently now and no more No Comm DTCs for either HVAC or TCS. That problem is solved. Whew!
I'm now down to 2 DTCs.
1. BCM B0432 Low voltage on rear window defroster relay. I've tested the relay to the extent that I'm able. It clicks under power and resistance looks good. If I can't find any other problem, I guess I'll replace it.
2. SDM U1040 Sensing & Diagnostic module can't talk to the TCS module. I guess I need to look at the "star connectors" for the serial data bus.
Anyway, thanks for the help with this! Much appreciated!
