My CD player in my 99 keeps getting stuck and reads err. I take the cd out and put it back in the cartridge and works fine then gets stuck again. Any solutions?

It might be wear on the belts or rubber parts due to use, but cleaning is the only thing I can suggest as something that might help. Sometimes a disk will get hung up and jam , but I never had that problem.
I was reading about a niche' rebuilder that wants everybody to mount the changer horizontally , I guess so it doesn't have to fight gravity as much in operation. I think this highlights the need for good condition of the mechanism . I have a spare CD holder from Panasonic that is interchangeable with the OEM unit , which is a rebadged pioneer changer, in case you need to buy parts, or decide your changer case is the problem.
My in dash player is worn to where I have to wait for heat expansion to get the thing to load properly, I guess it needs new rubber.

For my '03 I came across this site that has the CD unit for just $22 bux shipped! https://replacementradios.com/cd-dri...213438f26265c7 They might have a CD unit for a '99, you will have to match it up
This was for a brand new in dash CD unit, I had to disassemble the radio but that was easy to do, if you can remove the radio you can replace the CD unit.

This is awesome! I just bought a brand new-ish radio off another forum member for this reason, but I'm going to give this a try as well and may have a spare head unit. I recently did the aux-input mod but my head unit will not play CDs (err message even when tried 15+ times) so I cannot play my iPhone; I'm assuming it's an issue with the laser. The actual CD feeds and ejects fine.
I tried gently cleaning the laser with rubbing alcohol but there was no change.
thanks for the great resource, looks to be very useful. My used o3 came with a Sinatra cd in the dash player, I guess it was forgotten because of the difficulty in loading the thing. That it was a relaxing Sinatra cd and not thrash metal was a comfort to me.
