My 2002 is leaking differential oil ever so slightly from the driver side output shaft seal. (I know, "known issue").
It's not enough to even drip to the ground at this point (mechanic described it as "weeping"). I'm about to change
the fluid and was wondering whether switching to 75W140 might help slow, if not stop, the seepage.
I would replace the gasket/seal to stop the leak. A higher viscosity fluid really won't do much to stop the seeping. A few of my friends with C5's had the same issue and they wound up doing a seal replacement.
Make sure the vent isn't stuck shut, My 03 would weep when it got cold. I found that the vent cap was stuck shut, cleaned it and I no longer have any weeping.
Yes, check the vent. It has a spring loaded cap that will let air out when it gets hot but not back in when it cools again. It seems the idea is to hold a vacuum when colder to help keep it from leaking.
