Holley intake manifold
Thinking about installing a chrome intake manifold to replace the stock
one. Anyone have any knowledge about maker and price?

Re: Holley intake manifold (Slammed Vette)
Could the factory intake be sprayed (DIY) to look like metal or chrome? Would it have problems with heat dissapation?
TIA

Holley/Weiand makes an aluminum LS6 intake. Sells for around $560. It can be polished.

I recall someone painting their intake a silverish color and it lookd pretty cool. I assume it was high-temp paint.

I am told that to use the aluminum manifold would raise air temps as the metal could not stay as cool as the plastic. We spend a lot of time and money trying to get cold air to the combustion chambers you will probably loss 10 to 20 rwhp with the metal all else being equal. I do agree that it would look great and I would love to be able to port match like you can with metal. Metal for looks, plastic for performance.

Re: Holley intake manifold (Lensz06)
I have the Holly intake on my 2000 vert. Had it powder coated red. It looks fantastic , and I ran my best this summer at the track 13.13 @108.5 on run flats with a 2.5 sec. 60' 83 degree humid day. Additional mods : Halltech tric and cobra, GMS maf, B&B shorty headers ceramic coated inside and out, Corsa ehaust and Bassini x-pipe. I can't say I lost anything, or gained, but I ran a 305 rwhp on a dyno without it and will see in the spring what she has with it.

Call them and ask who in their industry would coat your manifold - it's worth a try.
Good Luck!!!!!!

Check out the pics of the Holley intake that we installed on Carwash King's vette. We had it polished and came out great.
Thanks,
Chad

Chad,
That intake is a work of art! Heck, the fuel rail covers actually put the intake to shame. Must've taken someone a loooong time to paint those covers.
