I haven't abandoned the thread, I just haven't been able to find anyone with 5/16 - 7.400 chromoly pushrods in stock, been on back-order since May. If anyone has a source for them in stock I'd appreciate the info!
Completing a valve-train upgrade including beehive springs, chromoly pushrods and trunnion kit with bronze bushings.
Although the numbers, 150 and 153 are really close to each other they are low if the engine is stock. Compression should be 180-200 when the engine is hot and WOT. Was the engine cold and/or at WOT when you did the test ? Long shot since the miles are low but maybe timing chain jumped since that would cause low but even compression.
I also think the numbers are low. I asked Santa for a compression test kit for Christmas (Santa came through), several adapters and a really Accurate looking gauge. During Christmas, I was fooling with pressure transducers (results in the scan/tune section). What I found was the gauge was defective and under reported pressure. So, it is possible the compression test was not done properly.
If those are your numbers, then you may have an exhaust restriction. If the engine is not running smoothly, there should be misfires reported. A lot of techs forget to look for individual cylinder misfires if a p0300 code does not show up. Could be as simple as a crank sensor relearn to solve your problems

Just stumbled on this. FYI, my chromoly 7.400 (5/16") BTR pushrods are still for sale. My car made 385WHP SAE (393WHP) on a 97F day, before removing them to upgrade my build. I put them in when new and were removed approx 10k miles later. I'm also selling my older dual valvesprings (also about 10k miles), since my new heads already came with new dual valvesprings. I was planning to keep the older ones for spares, but I'm not opposed to selling them if you're interested.
Just came from another respected shop in my area where I asked him to pull the covers to be sure. Long story short, thorough diagnostics, he found no reason to look at the valve train and doesn't think it's the timing chain either, recommends top end cleaning and fuel system additive.
I guess I'll try that and if it does nothing ask him if he wants to pull the covers off just to appease me.
All 3 shops find no codes, no noises, no smoking exhaust, say everything is within parameters and running OK, no need to look for an internal issue.
it would take 10 minutes to pull the coil packs and valve covers. That would be my next move.
