Before filling my fuel tank today (I was down to less than 1/4 full) I bought a bottle of injection cleaner and poured it in. I believe I secured the cap properely but can't be sure. I started the engine and started my drive to my favorite filling station when the Check Engine light came on. Since there were no other messages displayed on the DIC and the car was running ok I continued on. I filled up and made sure the cap was properely secured. I then drove around (10 to 15 miles) and even turned off the motor a few times thinking it might re-set itself. No luck. The car runs fine.
Any suggestions before I schedule an appointment at the dealer?
Another CF buddy e-mailed me a link on how to read and clear PCM codes. I didn't bring a pen out to the car but I did have a few. The one in 60-IPC was probably causing the check engine light. I cleared all the codes and the light is now off.
What a valuable resource, in a matter of minutes after posting my plea for help I had an answer sitting in my Inbox and my problem was solved. Lord knows what that saved me. Probably $50 to $60 plus down time.
Cool, I have two reoccuring codes that I hope to get cleared up this week with a little PCM adjustment. P0300 misfire and P1133 Heated Oxygen Sensor, both turn on the check engine light. I just reset it and keep on trucking.
