I noticed yesterday that my Emergency brake is no long working on my MN6. I pull the lever and it feels like it takes (and light on dash notices that I applied the E-brake) but once I put the car in Netural - it just wants to coast. I even tried this on a ever so slight incline and it doesn't appear to be catch at all. Could I have snapped the Ebrake cable? This happened to me about 10-12 years ago in another Chevy - but in this case - I heard the pop) How much would such a repair run?
The P-brake self-adjusts (right! ) . The first thing to try is to slowly repeat applying the brake several times. You will be able to tell when it's working because you won't be able to pull it all the way up. I repeat you may need to apply/release/apply several times before it starts to grab.
If this does not work then you need to adjust (or have adjusted) the star wheel back by the ebrake drum.
We have about the worst Parking brake in Automobile history. It's really a disgrace. Never Never trust it. Always leave you car in reverse when parked.
