I need to pick up a compressor kit from Rock Auto. they tell you that you either have a delphi sp10 or a valeo DKS 17D
it tells you to look at the tag on the unit, well I see no tag on mine.
How do I tell the difference between the two

Where are you looking on Rockauto? All references I've ever seen pretty much refer to a V7 compressor, and it seems to have been Delphi supplying them to GM. I found an un-used Delphi on the parts page and had it installed for me, but many others on the forum have used GPD and Four Seasons with good results.

Do not buy a reman from R&Y in Florida. I did, and it leaked at the seam just like the original one did. I bought an OEM Delphi and haven't had a problem since. The R&Y was out of warranty because it had been sitting on my shelf for awhile before installation, but they said they would do something for me. I told them don't bother; I didn't want another one of their units even if it was for free. I told them I would exact my revenge for all the work it was to redo this job by letting the world know about their stuff. So here I am.

Doing your own work? The days of quality re-manufactured parts are pretty much gone. Much like getting replacement parts of the same quality as original, even when acquiring the O.E.M. part. My original compressor was from Japan I think. The replacement was from Korea, and I felt lucky to find it.
Why not go with the Four Seasons, TSN1865, $188 with compressor, receiver/drier, and metering orifice? Supposedly lifetime warranty too.
