How many hours are involved in a differential swap. I am considering sending my 3.42's in and having 4.10's installed. Can this be accomplished in a home garage, or is it a job for professionals? What about the speedo reading correct with this change?
Kids: Don't try this at home! Some people are more adventerous than others, but this really needs a lift and a tranny jack to accomplish. Around here, the best Corvette mechanic will do a swap for $150, I let him do mine, (it's a 4 hour job) and consider that a good deal.
The speedo reading will still be correct, it's sensor is unaffected.
CF member Mike Mercury is the guy you want to talk to about this. He did it in his garage and posted an excellent web page detailing it. I couldn't see the pics when I visited just now but I'm sure it's only temporary.

Ha, if someone would do it for 150.00 I would have it done in a second :) I have pulled the trans/diff ot of mine, its not bad at all if you have a trans jack and a safe way to support the car..
