Just curious, did the new kit from rodney dickman come the metal "T" brace? I didn't see it in the box pictured above.

As mentioned above, there are 2 type of motors:

97 to early 2000:
  • aluminum gearbox
  • removable gearbox cover held in place by 3 little screws
Late 2000 to 2004:
  • plastic gearbox
  • cover is glued in place

The metal T-Brace with plastic bushing is only needed to reinforce the glued cover, therefore it is only included in kits for "Late 2000 to 2004" motors, along with the required glue.

On the other hand, kits for "97 to Early 2000" include a new gasket for the removable cover that's not part of the other type of kits.

OP's is a 99, that's why the kit included a gasket but not a T-Brace or glue.
