Fuel gauge problem 1998
1998 - Fuel gauge drops to zero after a few miles... Check gauges lights comes up. I stop and turn off motor, starts again and all is fine for a while and same agaun... Ideas?

Get two 20 once bottles. When you get to a 1/4 tank or so put one bottle in and then fill up. Repeat.
I do a bottle at oil change time. Techron cured my 98's fuel gauge problems.

There are two fuel tanks and two sending units. They work together to give you fuel level. Over time, the sulfur in fuel ruins the electrical contacts on the sending unit. My 98 sat for years with old fuel in it which ruined both senders. I replaced the left pump as it wouldn't come on. The old one disintegrated when I took it out. Alll the wiring had corroded and the fuel sock had turned to mush. The gauge would sort of intermittently work after installing a new AC Delco pump and filter so I tried the Techron. After a few tanks and a few bottles, it still didn't work. I decided to swap in a new unit on the right tank assuming it was as bad as the left one. The right one was was also all corroded and the sock had rotted off. Fired it up last night and the gauge finally works. Some people get lucky with Techron, mine was too far gone and had material parts failure.
