Default B&B PRT Exhaust construction.

Just purchased a set of B&B PRT for my 2002 convertible. Surprised to see tabs welded in the exhaust pipe at the back (toward rear of car) of each pipe going into the resonance chamber. They appear to block almost 1/3 of the area in the pipe. These are supposed to be a "straight through" design. I understand this in the first pipe as some of the exhaust would be diverted into the resonance chamber, but the second can only serve as a restriction. Have the PRT's always been this way. If I remove them, will the passenger compart turn into it's own resonance chamber? Are all the PRT's built the same way?

Just put PRT's on my '02 coupe. I noticed the same thing and figured it was to divert the exhaust also. You bring up an interesting question. I'm not sure if they have always been that way or not. I'm sure on of the vendors, or someone who has had PRT's for a while can tell us.

Either way I do love my PRT's. Had some trouble aligning the tips. Possibly the right side is not made correctly. I'll give it some time and see what happens.

I agree B&B needs to do some redesign to fix the right side over the axle pipe. When I first got my PRTs, I could not get the muffler on at all because the over the axle pipe was so out of alignment. I live in Phoenix, so I drove out to their shop and they gave me another right side (passenger) over the axle pipe. It was only slightly better, but I was able to get the muffler on. I've had some problems with alignment, but it's not noticable unless you really look at the tips closely. I will say I love the system and the sound, and have no regrets..but ya would think they could do better with the fitment!!
