Got the drivetrain in this morning with new clutch and rebuilt torque tube. After about a five mile drive I lost all oil pressure at about 4000rpm. Went about a 1/4 miles to pull over just coasting but lifters did get pretty loud. Assuming the pump went out. Pulling the pump tomorrow night and hoping the motor isn’t hurt. No metal in the oil at all so that looks good. Anyone had issues with these pumps and if so what’s a good pump to go with?
Did you do any other engine work while this was going on?
Melling
M295-stock replacement
10295- stock replacement, anodized, comes with high pressure (+10 psi) and std spring
10296- slightly larger physical gears, so slightly higher volume, comes with both springs.
M295 or 10295 is good for stock motor..... higher pressure bypass spring can be useful depending on mods/setup etc.
Accessing the oil pump, on an LS engine, especially in a C-5 chassis, is NOT an easy task. I'd look for other causes first, like a broken oil pressure sender, causing a leak, or an oil filter that went haywire, internally. Easy to diagnose and/or fix.....

update - got the pump out this afternoon. Was not too bad of a task on the lift just took a little time. The relief valve/piston was stuck open. Going to order a replacement tomorrow. Anyone have any suggestions on a good timing set to go with?
