Anyone out there know where the HUD in my '99 gets the data it displays? For example, does the oil pressure sending unit feed both the instrument gauge and the HUD? Or are there two separate sending units? Same thing for the temperature display - one sending unit or two?

Thanks!

There is only one sensor for each data type, Oil, temp, etc.
The HUD is connected to the IPC and the data is passed through the IPC to the HUD.

Thanks, Gary. Now, what is the "IPC"?

Thanks once more. Is this a wiring harness or individual wires? Do I need to remove the dash pad? Or the instrument cluster? It seems the only failing part of the HUD is the oil pressure, and it does work, just very slowly.

There is a wire harness from the HUD to the IPC, you have to remove the IPC to get to it. You do not need to remove the dash pad to get this IPC out. I am not sure if it would have anything to do with a slow reading though.

Thank you. Yes, I don't know why the HUD picks up so slowly; frustrating!

On a related topic, what happens to the "thermometer" picture in the HUD if the engine gets too hot? Does it change colors? Get bigger? Show smoke or steam? Just curious...
