Was driving home , at the light took of a harder than normal hear a loud pop, saw smoke come out car turned off and came to a stop, no oil or fluid leaks no metal on ground. Now I hear starter spinning but car doesn’t crank,

So is the starter turning the motor or just the starter itself spinning? Did it throw any codes? My first thought is an electrical/ignition problem but need more info.

no just the starter, tried discussing battery and reconnecting, it turned over split second heard a pop again like back fire, then just had it towed home..... lean pop?.. did it Lock up I’m thinking?

is there anyway to get a video of trying to start it?? But before that look around engine bay to maybe see something o obvious and down by the starter area. If you don't know what to look for video it if you could. And maybe we can help
we replaced ourselves as preventive measures not really very expensive, and not that difficult to do as a DIY. Had to replace oil pump and seen that the chain was very loose. I would do as the previous poster suggested and pull the valve covers and inspect springs and rocker/valves for broken/bent hardware. Sure sign of broken timing chain.
