Default What are my options for roll bars?

I need to add a roll bar over the winter for next years racing season and looking to see what are my options? I am planning on buying a 4 point and adding 2 door swingouts. I would love to hear the best options.

Well I went with the Breathless Performance 4 point Roll Bar..Fits GOOD..I BOLTED WITH #14 SELF TAPPING SCREWS and tack welded..very clean and sturdy. the hardest part was cutting the carpet to fit!! I've also ordered the 5th point bar that swivels away from www.wolfeacraft.com//sshould be installed by next weekend..NHRA also requires a 3 point harness and a jacket..so my track now tells me..get'em at Jegs...:D

5-point harness :yesnod: And if your going under 11.000 the harmonic balancer must be keyed. :(

Mine is from KIRK racing, it fits nice, and is all bolted in so I can remove it in about 20 minutes, I took part of it out yesterday, gonna get it powder coated, but I will try to get some pics posted for you guys, maybe tomorrow.

Here are a few pics, if you look close you can see the tubes that I dont have in place are all joined togetherby "slip tubes", that slide over the bars and then bolt together. IMHO, if you only race your car every once in a while like I do, I think it's nice to be able to remove it when you are on the street. Pull the cage out and put my chrome ZO6's back on and my car looks just like an everyday vette! :yesnod:

I have the Wolfe 5-point chromoly rollbar and am really happy with it. I have the removable swingout bar as well. The fit is incredible, and the bar is not even noticable from standing outside the car. It is bolt in, and powdercoated black. The quality of the powdercoat is very high. The price was about $900, and the install will probably run you about $400 unless you can do it yourself.

Check out this thread for a couple pics of it... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=378713

Bill:

Nice Roll Bar!

ON the seatbelt issue, try using a six-point harness to take care of the anti-submarine issue. I got a Sparco one from Northstar Motorsports and I use that setup with my BK Harness Bar for DE roadrace events. I will probably get a bar eventually.

Thanks Mako. On the belt issue, the 5 point works great for drag racing, gives me less constrained leg movement than the 6 point I tried. I'm thinking for road racing, the 6 point would get in the way of my leg movement as well. Do you feel the 6 point inhibits your leg movement at all?

You can also go with race shop body fabricator custom install. Neverlift Motorsports in New Jersey has don a few roll bars for quite a few Corvette Challenge racers.

Can you post some more pics? The pics are good but alittle more lighting would show more detail. Is your cage NHRA/IHRA legal since its technically a bolt in?

Hi,

We build a standard 4 point bar with a diagonal brace that goes from the top of the bar on the drivers side down to the bottom of the hoop on the passenger side. Our rear braces are straight, which is stronger than a bent design. The object of a roll bar is to prevent bending, rather than supply the braces "Pre-bent".
The diagonal bar is a required bar for road racing/SCCA.
This is a weld in roll bar, but very easy to install.

Our design allows top to be stored as normal with no interference.
The price is $595 powdercoated black but we can do other special colors.
We can also supply the removable side bar/bars for $200 per side.

We do not do a "swing out" door bar due to the potential for injury to the driver if the bar was removed. there would be too much of a stub sticking out to cause injury. We prefer to have the door bars remove totally when not in use.

Below are 2 links to the Xtreme Corvettes web site where there are some photos.
http://users3.ev1.net/~vettefolk/xtr...1/dsc00035.jpg
http://users3.ev1.net/~vettefolk/xtr...1/dsc00037.jpg

We have plenty already made that are ready to ship, without the door bars. We also can supply the "Foam" roll bar padding, and a 4 or 5 point harness in Black, Red or Blue.

Give us a call if you want to order one.

Thanks,

Lou Gigliotti LG Motorsports 972-272-7753

I went with a custom install from Mark Griggs. He has been building race car cages for 20 years. A couple of pics.
