My son moved my corvette from where I normally keep it to another building a couple of months ago, but didn't put the battery tender back on. I was going to drive it, but the battery was dead, or so I thought. It was an older battery, so I decided to replace it. When I hooked up the new battery which was charged, there was no power at all. I have checked everything again, but still no power. Any ideas on what the trouble might be? This is a 2003 C5 convertible which is stock with 32,000 miles stored in the garage and not outside..
Are you proficient with multimeter, if so make sure the battery is at 12.5volts which means the battery is fully charged. Recheck the battery cables make sure they are clean and tight, you should not be able to move them if they are. Helped somebody recently with this same problem, found out that somebody had left the power cable that feeds the interior fuse box disconnected, they had been troubleshooting an excessive current drain problem. That cable is located underneath the engine fuse box cover and is bolted on to a threaded stud.
There is a fusible link in the wire that connects the alternator to the starter solenoid, but it would not cause the no power condition you have. Have you checked the negative power cable connection to the engine block, very baffling to me why your car has no power, battery power is sent to the starter, the engine fuse box, and the interior fuse box. Have you also checked all your fuses, especially the one that sends power to the ignition switch.
