I have replaced both of the sprockets in my headlight motors over the past couple of years. Last night when I came home and turned the headlights off, the driver side opened back up after going down. It doesn't stay lit but it does stay open. I manually lowered it and then turned them on/off again. They both closed simultaneously but then the driver side opens back up. Anyone had this occur and how do you fix it? Crazy thing is this car is about 100 miles short of 20k so you would think the parts would work like a low 20k mile car. Nope...not with the cheap GM parts. LOL

This behavior is typical of missing or damaged rubber bump stops (No. 4 in diagram below). Even if they look fine to the naked eye, they might be scored too deep. You might need to replace them (4 per side). You can get them here.
In addition to that, there is a TSB addressing those symptoms that calls for shimming the driver's side motor (No. 2 in diagram):
Thank you so much! That's exactly what it was. I was able to pull the top bump stop off and turn it around. It was partly crushed on the top side so this will be temporary fix. I ordered new ones from the link you provided. Thanks again, Shannon
