The fuel pump is inside the fuel tank. It is a major job that requires taking apart the back end of the car. Here's part 1 of a video it should link you to the other 3 parts.
Are you sure it is a fuel pump problem? Why I asked is when the Murano just stopped and would not run, 2 mechanics said it was the fuel pump located in the tank and wanted mega bucks to replace it. After going on line, I found others had the same issue but it turned out to be the cam shaft sensor. So I replaced that and it was the problem.
If you have a 04 there is no return line. You have the newer type fuel system where the tanks have to be removed to get to the fuel pump. As you noted there is alot more labor involved to remove fuel tanks.
I did both on mine on my ‘04 while doing my clutch and the English language does not contain enough vulgarity to even come close to compensating for what a pain in the *** it is.
