I just bought a 2003 Z06, but the door subs don't appear to be working. All the other speakers work (front and back), though. I'm guessing there's a fuse or module that has failed. Could someone give me a troubleshooting list of possibilities? I want to keep the system stock, if at all possible. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated!
Do you still have the stock head unit or is it aftermarket? By your description it appears you have stock head unit but I want to be sure before we troubleshoot your problem.

You are correct. I have the stock HU with the stock Bose package. Thanks so much for your assistance!
Man, I can't believe no one has a response.
Anyhow, without running out to my detached garage in the rain to verify, I would check fuse #28 and #45 in the interior fuse box (located under the passengers side floor mat. There is also a panel to remove). I believe that is the fuse for the subwoofers as the subwoofers have their own amplifiers.
OK. It's apparently not the fuses. Just for fun, while I had Fuse 28 removed, I powered on the radio and quickly discovered the door speakers were indeed working - they just sound terrible! I guess I'll be saving up for a new system all the way around now. Thanks so much for all the input!

As you can see in the schematic I attached to Post 5 above, with Fuse 28 removed the subwoofer amps can't receive power, therefore, they can't produce any sound. It seems what you heard were just the front channels OEM 3½" twiddlers, which are mounted right besides the door subwoofers.
Sound quality definitely can be substantially upgraded, but I suggest you fix the problem with the door subwoofers first. For some upgrade ideas take a look at this Post
I'm amazed at how decent the factory Blose system CAN sound with the addition of a subwoofer and a set of tweeters. My black 99 still has the entire stock system but I added a set of JL Audio tweeters up in the A-pillars and also added a amplifier to power two 12" RF subwoofers. Though not cheap, it really woke up the stock system. I have all the bass I could ever need and the tweeters up in the A-pillars really brings the sound stage forward. They add the treble the stock system lacks. Now I have to work on my red 99's audio system
Correct. I thought the door subs weren't working before I removed the fuse. When I removed the fuse, I discovered they were working, they just sounded so terrible I thought they weren't working. The sound from the doors lacks any real bass or low-mid at all - that's why I thought the subs weren't working. Hope that clarifies...
