I just recently added long tube heads, x-pipe, GHL Exhaust, plus a cold air intake on my stock 98. Do you need to let the computer system know or does it auto adjust? Plus, I was considering ordering something like the “Hypertech Programmer” but was not sure how easy it is to program. Can anybody offer me assistance on what/how to change the computer to get more hp? Currently, I have an automatic transmission with the mods listed above. Thanks for your help. :flag
Zuga5000,
Yes I would do a re-learn. Basically there are two ways to do this I believe (1) drive the car for approx 60 miles and let it do it on its' own or (2) force a re-learn by disconnecting the battery and then letting it go through the idle re-learn process as well. As far as the HPP III goes not sure you will see any gains over what you just installed for horsepower. However, I use the HPP to up the rev limiter, give me better shift firmness and as a side note re-program the engine with the HPP tuning. You'll find about a 50/50 split on the use of the HPP here on the forum - some like it, some hate it. I bought mine used from the Forum and paid $200 - for the price I like it.
