Default A NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM

Hey i currently have magnaflow superturbo mufflers on my car with Borla's 4" rolled tips on the end and it looks HOT, but it sounds like a v6, I need a more aggressive, ballsy sound, something that will cause accidents on the highway.
I was looking into putting on the SLP Loudmouth exhaust which looks like straight pipes underneath. I have never seen one in person, but the pipes look kinda dinky. Was wonderin if anyone had pics of them installed or sound clips. How would you compare them to the Stingers. And what would the difference in sound be if i just took straight pipes to my current tips which I like a lot to the SLP loudmouth system. I wouldn't think much due to the fact that there is still no mufflers.

Sound clips of stingers and SLP Loudmouth desperately wanted and straight pipes if anyone has that too. Thanks.
Justin

You want to "cause accidents on the highway"? Suggest that you talk to your insurance agent. :smash:

it would be exactly the same as the LM without the baffles installed, which are themselves of questionable value. I personally don't like the look of the LM tips, so it may be worth a shot to keep your tips now, which are  , and remove the mufflers. I have the Borla XR1 and thought about swapping to the LM, but then thought why not just remove the center muffler/resonator and keep the better looking 4in tips. Just a thought.

I like my borla stingers. A mellow small block sound at idle. I finally got to hear them from the outside at the track while the wife made a few runs. That's no v6 baby! :smash: :smash: I think they could be louder IMHO but, I've read on the CF that they get louder with headers and hi-flow cats. I don't know that for a fact and I haven't heard that setup but,,,,, in time. :D

LOL, it's tough enough to get an exhaust that flows right, getting the "right" sound is even tougher.

That is an interesting combo. What did you do with the Magnaflow tips (4" round tips)? I have the Magnaflow exhaust, and it is not too loud but after about 2 months of driving they break in nicely. . .great sound at WOT.

Go with headers, I have heard several people on the forum say that headers make a considerable difference.

I agree with Mike remove your cats if you live where you can get away with it not only will you get the sound you will notice significant tq & hp increases.

Go to this page http://www.corvette-exhausts.com/ and listen to the C5 sound clip. I have this exhaust with LT headers and no cats. It sounds pretty awesome. (A lot better than this sound clip.)

The Loudmouths sound awesome, but the Stingers look better. Do you want the performance or do you want the look?

I went with the Stingers and really love the sound. Nice sound at idle and pretty damn loud when you nail it on the freeway. I live in Alexandria and if you want to hear what the Stingers sound like let me know.

Hey,

How did you get a pic next to that bird? Didn't the AF retire that puppy years ago?

I like the looks of the new GHL 4" tips, the sound of the 2 TIP Stingers (I don't like the looks of these). I'm anxiously awaiting for the sound of the new 4 tip stingers but it seems that they are still not available.

Email RHILL, he left the cats and removed the mufflers-I drove with him on a cruise and it wasn't too bad except when he went WOT in a tunnel. With a vert and the windows rolled up I couldn't wait for the end. :smash:
