I have 97 C5 my steering wheel position sensor is fine but because it's hard to get one I thought I stock up on one. The oem part number is 26055808 and the individual i'm looking to purchase one says it is from 97 C5 auto but the parts number on the part is 26058286. Can some verify it is the correct one for my car even though part number is different?
what is a reasonable price for used steering wheel position sensor for 97 ?

I believe you need the part number 26055808......97 and 98 were different from 99 and 00 and 01-04....I could be wrong.....I think 26058286 is for 99 and 00......it will not work
Yes all C5's have them from the factory. Some race car might have them removed.
I may be wrong here, but many early C5s did NOT have active handling. I thought that the earlier C5s that did not have the AH option didn't need the SWPS. Is that correct? What function would the SWPS have w/o AH?

wrong...they need it as it has inputs from more then just active handling....I do not have active handling on my 99 and need it...hate to say it but it is true

I can't be sure of this but if I remember correctly all C5s have the same stability/traction system (though changes occurred in 2000) but early cars either didn't have the button on the center console to turn it off, or maybe it was optional. Someone will be able to confirm or clarify this...
My 97 c5 does have traction control but do not have active handling. I tried to activate the competitive mode driving by pressing the traction control button nothing no competitive mode comes on.
