Looking at new wheels and tires for my 99 6-speed. A lot of people like the Michelin Pilot sports ZP(zero pressue). These are runflats. They are not cheap. About $1260 from the tirerack. People say they are the best runflats. That is what I am looking to buy!
Adam,
Just replaced my Firestone SZ50's with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZP tires and really like the looks and sound. The chart below should give you a place to start for comparing tires. The tires above the gray line are all run flats.
thank you for advice and the chart. i'm leaning towards the michelin's.
ANY new calibrations needed (speedo, pressure sensors) to correct for small size variations?
i have the stock N73 Magnesium rims.

I have the Yokohamas. They're MUCH quieter than stock, are better in the rain, and have a better ride.
The only thing I don't like about them, if it's under 40 degrees, they're a little slippery. But on a nice sunny 80 degree day, they want to rip the blacktop off my driveway. :D
Did the Vipers change? Just checked and the OE tires are Michelin Pilot Sports at 275/35ZR18 front and 335/30ZR18 rear - but they did not show up as RF's.
I just replaced the OEM GY EMT'sat 19,870 miles with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZP's. Holy Cow - what a difference. These are the tires GM should put on the car as OEM. BTW we just had our first snow event of the year and had the Corvette out in the snow. The Michelin's were surperb. I'd have no fear driving in bad weather. Great tire and reputation. This may sound "old fashioned" but I wanted a tire Made In America. The UTQG of 400 alone makes these tires worth a look.
I replaced my run craps with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S (not zp). Less noise, better ride, tread wear 400...they are doing great with ~15K miles on em so far.
Are the zp tires a more stiff ride than the non zp? Figure the stiffer sidewall would make a stiffer ride
