So i recently had my 03 coupe dyno tuned and have been very happy with it! I've been considering long tube headers for my next performance mod. I've been researching the speed engineering option, and it seems plenty of people have had great success with these headers. I read about have to cut the rear flanges off the factory h pipe, but I'm already running a borla x pipe. Would I be able to use these headers and retain my x current x pipe? I dont really want to cut up the borla unit, and would prefer to use it as opposed to the one included with the speed engineering kit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I could only find posts about people cutting the factory h pipe, but havent come.across using these with aftermarket x pipes. I might be able to dig my old h pipe out of the metal dumpster here at work and sell the borla x pipe, but I figured I'd ask here first
I have the SE long tubes and X pipe on my C6 and am very pleased with everything about them. They are well built and dropped in without a single hitch, flawless installation. I ran the X pipe back into my NPP stock exhaust and love the results.
I can't say will your current X pipe work but I would have my doubts as the spacing may be different from the SE x pipe.
What you're saying jives with much of what I've read. I hadn't considered spacing. I was.looking at how the borla x pipe extends farther on one side closer to the front of the car. I'm hoping I can just trim one of the pipes coming off the headers that replace the cats, but the farther side my not even reach!
If it helps anyone answer, I'd read that cutting was required to install the borla x pipe. Once I got under the car, I'd found that the factory h pipe was clamped on behind the cats. And offset lengths. My borla x pipe slid right in place with absolutely 0 cutting anywhere
