I'm looking at a 2000 Vert with supercharger and all the commensurate bolts ons. Been out of the game for a while and looking to get back into HPDEs and some fun runs. How feasible is it to just take off the supercharger and run the car as is? I'm assuming it would need a retune at the very least. Thoughts?
If you want to take the car to HPDE, a supercharged convertible is not the best starting point...
To answer your question sure it can be done and yes a retune would almost for sure be required especially if you want to go beat on the car. What other supporting mods are done to the car?
Going back to not answering your question, you'll save a lot of time and effort and end up with a better product if you start off better...
Totally agree it's not the best starting point. I've been looking around for a Targa top car that's N/A with slight mods....and then I just found this car that's down the road. Thanks for the advice.
I got one not a vert but u could have it for 32k these cars will cost much much more to build especially if your having a garage involved
Even if u were to take off the supercharger what type of supercharger it ? U will need maybe a original belt tension idle , possibly a intake ,a tune file for sure , the original injectors......, a tuning device hpt

Yeah, you will probably have to re-buy some parts, but shouldn't be too terrible. Especially if it's a basic kit that uses a normal/stock style harmonic balancer etc.
I would stick to a vortech....yup boost it and boost it some more it will handle it and u will love all the rampaging power and get gas mileage ! Just do us a favor and down shift next a Prius...there’s no feeling like all that boost ....

For those wondering what’s happened with this....test drove the car on Saturday. It’s fast and loud, exactly my kind of car if I was just driving around town and going for dinner. It needs a fair amount of work to make it look and drive nice, before even considering HPDE. I decided to pass on the car and now looking for something else more suited to my goals.
