steering wheel position sensor swap?

I have a 1999 base model and I need to know if anyone has found a way to use/adapt the later type swps. I dont want to buy a used one.

Look in the stickies section. It says it's about swapping an EBCM from an '01 and up, into a '99. But I'm pretty sure he also swapped in a SWPS. It CAN be done......

Thanks! I dont even want or need the AH system, I'm just sick of seeing the yellow light on the dash!

I did read a post here about a guy who was able to replace his 99 position sensor with a new part from a Buick. He mentioned that the big obstacle was finding a sensor that spoke the same language as the computer. The plastic had to be modified to fit, and the computer had to be adjusted since the new incoming signal read backwards.

I am glad there are people out there with that kind of skill level that are kind enough to ogre help. I am also glad I have an 03.
