resetting oil message

resetting oil message

After changing the oil, how do you reset the oil message. Currently it shows 6%. Shouldn't it be showing 100% oil life after the change? Or is the oil life actually measured by a sensor?

Turn the key to the ON position (but with engine off). Bring up oil life on the DIC and hold the Reset button. Next time you start the car, oil life will be at 100%.

Or turn ignition to ON and push the gas pedal to the floor 3 consecutive times, turn ignition off, voila.
