I’m in the process of switching all of the bulbs on my C5 over to LED’s. It’s all LED now, except the tail lights, which will be soon.
I’m having a slight problem with the under hood light. It seems when I open the hood it burns very dim. But when I start the car, it’s very bright as it should be.
The bulb doesn’t have a good tight fit like the stock bulb did. I’ve seen posts where this is a common problem with these LED’s. I can tap the lens and it’ll flicker a little. What can I do to make it a little tighter connection? Any other LED’s for the hood light you guys recommend??

Question, does the light stay on as long as the hood is open? Reason I ask is the light never worked since I bought the car and kinda good thing because I leave my hood open for days at a time.

With a functioning bulb, the light goes off on a timer if the hood is left up.
You need to install a resistor to adjust the voltage. I had the same problem: open the hood and the light would be dim. Someone suggested that if I opened a door or flipped open the visor mirror lights, that it would brighten up (they're on the same fuse). Sure enough, the light immediately became bright.
I actually don't remember from where I ordered the bulbs. I replaced all the interior lights and the hood light. All were nice and bright until I got to the hood. It was bright at first and then was dim when I checked it later. Thanks for the recommendation.
