Glove Box issue

Glove Box issue
So my glove box is stuck closed. It seems that the latch works fine however it feels like the ‘hook’ that wraps around the metal grab piece attached to the dash isn’t releasing enough to open the glove box. Has anyone experienced this? And if so, is there something I can do and use to help get the glove box open without damaging the box? Thanks for any help out there.

Try inserting the key and turning it left and right a few times. I used some dry lube in there and it works fine now. Also, the light wouldn't turn on because the plunger was a little stuck and wouldn't pop out far enough unless I pulled it. Some lube there worked wonders as well!

Yes, key in keyhole and attempt to free it up like that. Spray some dry lube or whatever you use in there and hopefully it will free up. Push it as closed as you can, then spray it, turn it, and even bang on it like they do for stuck passenger side windows (it works).
Sounds like the "hook" is not opening all the way probably due to some gunk in there not allowing full travel to open, same as what I said happened to the glove box light switch plunger as well. Good luck.
