Charging thru cigarette lighter??

Using an adapter could you charge thru the cigarette lighter?. OR, will the lighter socket switch off in 10 minutes.??

My charger came with that adapter, and it works just fine, no need to open the hood. Go ahead and use it.

The lighter socket stays hot. But, I'd rather do my charging under the hood!

Why, what is the reason. My charger was designed to function with the lighter. Today you can even jumpstart through the lighter!

Just call me old fashion and finicky. I'm not sure the circuits back to the battery were designed with battery charging taken into consideration. Given the complexity of the the C5 electrical system, and the fact that it's no big PITA to just open the hood and connect directly to the battery, I prefer to do it there.

And I don't have to worry about that lighter charger thing shorting out (or something) inside my passenger compartment while I'm not around.
