Shifting problems
I have a 1998 Corvette C5 automatic.
Pulled into my driveway last night and went to put it in park. The shifter just went back and forth.
I thought it might have been the shift cable so I pulled it all apart this morning. Tried to pull the shift cable out from the shifter but it didn't move so I don't know if it's actually broken.
Any other suggestions besides the shifts cable?
Plus how do you get the shift cable off from the shifter mechanism as I don't really want to break it?
Thank you, James.

The interlock cable, put key in ignition put in accessory position push on brake pedal, cable then will have slack. the cable will slide up out of plastic unit. This is from memory, there is a detent on the interlock piece once there is slack you can push it and cable will raise straight up.

Appreciate all the advice, especially the link for the video. Went I had and ordered the shift cable and a set of bushings. We'll find out which one it is once I jack it up and get the parts.
Thanks again.
