I have a 2001 corvette base for reference. I just completed a clutch swap yesterday and now I'm having a BAD vibration over 1,800 rpms.
Here's the background...I did a lot of research before I tackled this job. I'm not at all new to cars, but I know the c5 drivetrain is a little special. I marked the flywheel when I took it off because it had a few weights pressed into it. I'm 99% sure I put it back on in the right spot (of course I'm second guessing myself now). I replaced the pilot bearing and the throwout/slave with new. The flywheel was resurfaced by a reputable machine shop in our area. The clutch is a McLeod single disk street extreme. The vibration is there weather the clutch is engaged or disengaged which tells me that it is an engine vibration, not drivetrain.
At this point, my plan is to drop the drivetrain again. I'm going to run the engine with the clutch still attached and see if it vibrates over 1,800 rpms. Also going to do it with just the flywheel attached.
Any other recommendations I'm not thinking of? Thanks for the help.

Boy I wish I'd done my research as well. If so, I'd have marked the PP relative to the FW, taken that and the new clutch to a machine shop, and had the new balanced to the old. Not sure what I'll do now, maybe get the existing clutch zero balanced or balanced just to the stock FW? Zero balance the torque tube shaft?
So clearly I didn't do enough research. I just looked at my stock pressure plate and that also has 2 weights on it (see attached pic). Is my best bet to take both to a machine shop and have the new "unbalanced" to the old?
Is there any way to tell how the PP was in relation to the flywheel? Would the weights on each be in the same spots?

I've replaced many McLeod clutches with out problems. I would return it. And by the way never balanced. Flywheel and clutch together check to see if it needs shims if not ready to go.
