I am glad to beat vstella to the thread. For a stock car or a modified car, the TransGo is badass. I put the gears and TC in the car and although it was going very fast, it was very soft, especially from the top end. I put the TransGo with two spacers (three is the firmest setting) and this thing snaps your neck back all over the place. It feels as if the body of the car is gonna rip off the chassis now. I love racing 6-speeds after the reprogram and TransGo and letting them think they have that 40mph roll advantage against an A4. I drive it in 3 and at 40mph its the hardest my car will hit now, with no lag whatsoever. Its a great mod, just a PITA to install or find someone to install it for you.
What it does is firm (translate: quicken) the time it takes to shift from one gears to the next. A real SOTP mod. It takes 3-4 hours for install and at the $65/hour rate plus $40 or so for the fluids it should run you around $300. You will pull out of the garage after the install, throw it in 3 and look like this :D
One more thing, you may get replies from some people saying that its bad for the car, its a bunch of BS. I put a tranny cooler in my car and the temps are perfect. I have had it in for quite some time now and we monitor the hell out of it, there is nothing to worry about. Negative replies will only come from the people that are too afraid to install it. The ones that have it are on my side, trust me...
I am glad to beat vstella to the thread...Untouchable00
  Well put Brian..:D
There is nothing that will duplicate the improvemnet that the Transgo shift kit will provide for quicker surer and more durable shifts ...PERIOD!! :smash:.......'nuff said.
I'll chime in. Al there is no ET improvement, so you ask why do it? Well, it makes the car feel much tighter and responsive from what many have told me. It was kinda like before I got my Powerloader, the shifts were really slushy, the PL really firmed everything up and gave me firm crisp shifts and even though that didn't make my car much faster (at least that part of the programming) , it felt sooooo much better that it was 100% worth ot. I think that is the same thing with the Transgo, especially coupled with a high stall converter that sometimes loosens things up a bit.
You have the ST3500 so with a 2.4 or 2.5 whatever it is STR, yours is probably pretty tight, but I am sure the Transgo would make your shifts better.
I would like to get it when I get my TC and 3.42's installed, but likely won't for a long time since there is no one I know in Dallas that does these installs, or has experience with them. I have only heard positive feedback on the CF from all the people that got one installed.
I have heard some say it is bad for the tranny and some say it prolongs it??? Who knows??
Re: TransGo Automatic Shift kit (2001 Red Coupe Bandit)
Finally, my boy Gary chimes in. Ask Gary (Bandit), that is all I do is tell him how great this thing is. Vstella is the one that got me to do it, listen to his advice! As for 1/4 mile times, I have no times to go on, but from a roll, performance is increased immensely. From pedal to acceleration it is instantaneous and hard, no timesa wastin'.
Just for the SOTP feeling it is worth it, after all why would any of us get aftermarket exhaust systems if we were not doing heads/cam or FI. It just for a more enjoyable drive. You will come to Boston and shake my hand for this. And if you go with a high stall converter and gears it is a must to tighten it up.
I've had the TransGo including the 3.42's, SY3500, and the
Powerloader so I only know how the TransGo affects my
car with all 3-mods.
It's certainly a SOTP mod and just makes the A4 so much
MORE fun to drive. Heat is the big enemy to transmission
failure with the L460E not a TransGo shift kit.
I hope to know what the combination does for me. The job to install the transgo is not for the faint of heart, but I was lucky to have a friend (Bob "Violater" Moss) willing to do it for me (with OYeaLiz assisting). I will go home this weekend to help raise the drive train and put it all back together again...hopefully even drive it!

I'm with WallSt Al. my car shifts fast and very firm with LS1 Edit programing even with my Yank ST3500. I see no need to spend $300.00 buying and installing a shift kit, especially when more than likely it will not improve my 1/4 mile performance.
Gil Younger sold out to Transgo......
I used a Gil younger kit on a 700r4.....On a
restored (not show quality) 68 chevy pickup....it eliminated the electronics of
the tranny to be able to run on older models.....
5 and I said 5 distinct gears and 4 distinct shifts.........
1, 2 , 3 , t/c lockup and overdrive.........
I loved it.......110,000 miles by the person i sold it to.....
and the t/c started coming apart.........
The shift kit......was reinstalled after rebuilding the tranny.....
Transgo should be the best mod for an a4 IMO
yes and vstella recommended it to me.........Thanks V
