Re: Looking for low profile floor jack for lowered C5 (NVR BRNG)
I've got the DK13HLQ. It is as low a jack as I could find and I still can't get it under the air dam if I come at it from the front. It fits everywhere else, with a piece of wood to boot. However, this thing is really well put together and I don't regret the purchase at all. Little pricey, but should last virtually forever. http://www.asedeals.com/hydraulicjacks2.html

Be careful if you bid for one on eBay - the seller appears to be selling the same jack in 6 different ads, and has no eBay reputation (0). Paying for it via a charge card that you can dispute later if the jack doesn't arrive as advertised might be safe. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1873786435
Re: Looking for low profile floor jack for lowered C5 (NVR BRNG)
It's hard to get anything under my car, but what I found to work best is, I found a scissors jack out of a Honda, it lays flat on the ground, put it under one of the jacking points and lift the body enough to get a full size jack under the front. I have an aftermarket front spoiler, and can still get under the front by this method.

I just bought a 2.5 ton Craftsman from Sears. It goes down to 4.5 inches. I lowered my car and used a 2X6 piece of wood under the front tires and could get it under the jacking points. It is also on sale for $29.99. Pretty good deal!!!

Same method I resorted to. Use my "little jack" purchased from Ewald at one of the side jacking points. As soon as there is enough clearance for the floor jack, I carefully position it from the front and very slowly raise it. When I drop it back down, it is usually on to blocks or bricks and then just roll off of those. Kind of a pain, but it really only takes an extra 2 minutes!
I think he means it is made in China.
IMO and experiences made in China = crappy quality
For some reason slave labor never really produces quality products that last.
I am trusting my vette and my life to my jack and stands.
I doubt a slave in China gives 2 hoots if your car crushes you.
When we were road racing at Watkins Glen half the people in the parking garage/hanger who had jacks had that one.
I borrowed it to use on my car and it was incredible!
I still wouldn’t fit under the front air damn, but it fits under the side of the car no problem (my car is lowered)
I’m getting it :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:
BTW: Where does it say that it’s made in China?
Re: Looking for low profile floor jack for lowered C5 (NVR BRNG)
Go with the DK20 ! I have it and it is good. My car is lowered and fits under side rails without any problem with room for jacking puck. You can bend back your front air damn and jack away! Orderd on line, delivered within a week, warranty applies. :seeya
Re: Looking for low profile floor jack for lowered C5 (fdupny)
I have the manual in front of me now (U.S. General Model 47246). No reference to country of origin. The jack may have been made in China, but there isn't any thing I could find flipping through the pages. Mine has operated alright, but I wish the effort to operate the jack was less...only complaint ( and it's a small one).
all the harbor frieght hydraulic equipment leak sooner or later ( usually sooner). Thankfully I've learned from others experience. No need to take it personally

all the harbor frieght hydraulic equipment leak sooner or later
I repaired enough hydraulic equipment over the years, as part of my job, to say that all hydraulic equipment leaks sooner or later no matter who it's made by.
