Default QC Code 423131

This is my 4th C5. My first one was bought new in 99. Absolutely love these cars. Last year I bought a poorly neglected 97 with an automatic. I couldn't pass up on the price. It had all the typical issues associated with these cars. I have thrown fistfuls of dollars at it. All new AC, actuators, radiator, fans, seats/door panels, radio, speakers, AC controller, headlight motors and an entire passenger door due to broken fiberglass at the lower hinge. I could go on for another hour. All back to original. Everything is working as new. I drove the car for about 30 minutes. Security light came on. Stopped and filled up the tank and it never came back on. I pull into my shop feeling accomplished. 10 minutes later I start the car and get, pull key and wait 10 seconds. Car was running. So I shut it off, pull key and waited 10 seconds. It would not turn over and security light was flashing. Did the magical key wiggle hoping for the best, but nothing. Disconnected the battery, again hoping for the best. Nothing. The control buttons for the DIC were not working so I could not look for codes. No beeps and no options and still no start. My feeling of accomplishment quickly faded and turned to thoughts of a gallon of gas and a match.

I pulled key several more times and turned it on trying to get some sort of communication from the non-working control buttons. Finally, I shut the door. The doors auto locked and the horn beeped. Put in the key and it started right up and the controls were working again. I let it run for a few minutes as Im cleaning up a bit and just happened to look at the dash to see this... QC Code 423131. I have found zero information about this code. I did not pull it. It just appeared. Pushing the reset button did nothing. Hell, pushing any button did nothing. Control buttons were dead again. Shut it off, restarted and message was gone but no working buttons. Then, after about a minute they started working again. Im pretty sure it didn't fix itself and will happen again. I just have no idea where to start and I do not know if the previous owner ever changed out the ignition. The car did not come with a key fob but I bought the correct one and programmed it. it works perfectly except when the control buttons are not working. Also noticed that the light on the control buttons dosent work as well. I dont recall it ever lighting up and I really dont know whats its function is. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I did see that post last night. Not sure if the different number means anything but I will send him a message.

Thanks
