Main Drive Belt ???!!!
I replaced both, the main drive belt and A/C belt about a week ago. I was at the gas station and popped the hood just to do my regular check on the engine and noticed that the main drive belt was only half way on the tensioner pulley at the top passenger side. It was on all the other pulleys correct along with the A/C belt being on right. I got the belt back on the tensioner pulley and drove home, which is only about a mile down the road. I popped the hood at the house and the belt had did the same thing on the tensioner pulley. Has anyone ever had this problem or know what it could be. This is the first time I have ever seen this, and it is annoying the hell out of me until I figure it out. My car is a 1998 A4 C-5. Thanks.

The tensionr pulley probably has a bad bearing causing it to be out of alignment which will cause the belt to run off to one side. Take the belt off and see if the pulley has any movement in it, if it does replace it.
