Default Targa Top Trauma

Well, the new ride is SWEET. It has both tops which even in Seattle gave me an opportunity to swap in the translucent one for winter.

The problem is, and it went on fine, that the hook in the back once engaged does not flip back out easy when you press the tab.

I'm afraid to unlatch the front ones for fear doing damage. I've tried to lightly pry while pressing the tab on the rear latch.

Could this be an adjustment? I've never had to look into the top that much in my ownership.

There is an adjustment procedure in the service manual. You can download it here

Are you pulling the lever down on the back latch when you push the tab?

Ouch ...never had a problem installing or removing my targa ...I always found the easiest way for way when I wasn’t storing it in the trunk I would test it on the top then get into the vehicle line it up buckle the fronts the back always goes in smooth

Yeah, the one top came off just fine - but this one doesn't "pop" down when you. press the tab.

Well, my main problem is I can't get the top off! The rear clamp will not budge - I don't wanna break it.

Maybe try pushing it back fist spray a little lubricant give it a go what’s the worst that can happen you break the latch ? That can be replaced I think

Maybe pull or push down on it and see if the latch is fully locked to start with . I would have threw a a couple of punches at at maybe a elbow just needs a little attention lol ...jk

I hear you. The handle is nearly flat against the stop (the roof) and that is not how my other top behaves. I will wait for the next sunny day and I'll unclip the front two and see if that gives me wiggle room. I really do not wanna ruin the mechanism!

Does anyone have an exploded view of the latch by chance?

I have tried that - on the handle side and it is stuck fast. I can try more force but I'm 6'3" 280 and the sucker didn't budge!
