Default ti exhaust welding

just bought ti mufflers for my 97 and will be installing them along with my borla x pipe this coming spring. was wondering how the bypass modification to the mufflers is done with ti. with my mig and the way ti is welded is not going to happen in my garage. was reading some of ti welding instructions and decided it's not possible for me to weld. have the bypass pipes already made up from my stock mufflers (stock exh. pipe) and it does not look compatible with ti welding. how do you guys and gals do this? after i would buy the ti pipe and find someone around here to weld i'll probably have a couple hundred bucks in this welding project only. i have made a band clamp in years past for a 02 sensor and installed in the collector of one of my hot rods and it turned out pretty good. looks like i might have to go that route again. i'm sure others have run into this problem before. thanks

you can get the Ti tube from a few places...

And it has to be tig welded with Ti filler. Ti requires strict purged atmosphere, but 99% of shops wouldnt be setup for that plus its not a critical part so you MIGHT get away with not purging the whole thing.

I wouldnt be shocked to spend 300+ bucks all in to have it done.

thanks for the reply. was out in the garage and cut a 2 1/2" piece of exhaust in half. i'll use it for a plate then weld my ends to it and attach it to the ti exhaust. happens to be on a bend and the piece was on a bend. looks like it will work but you know how that goes. i'll have 300 in the setup without the ti weld bill. i have the factory mufflers on now so i can practice on them. thanks again.

Just happened to see this on Facebook marketplace just a few minutes ago. Might be worth looking into.

set-up looks very good. gonna pick mine up in the morning. got mine for just a little more than half of that one but mine does not have the by-pass tube welded in. probably would be about that much if i had someone weld mine.
