Ok, the dreaded "pull key for 10 seconds came on about a year ago. I first bought a new battery - didn't fix the problem. Bought the LMC5 kit and watched every you-tube on how to install it - didn't fix it. Called the LMC5 people and they have not called me back still getting the pull key message. Watched another Youtube about plugging in the brown wire - didn't fix it. Tried putting in the key while on the tender charged - didn't fix it.
It only happens when the key is out and it is inserted, but about 70% of the time. The only thing I haven't done is dipped the key in alcohol. REALLY SOMEONE HAS A FIX???
I suggest you continue to try and get a hold of Richard @ Compliance Parts (855-565-8388). He is SUPER knowledgeable regarding these issues and VERY helpful...once you get a hold of him. Good Luck!
Yes try contacting Richard again
You can spray a little contact cleaner into the cylinder as well.
Another trick is when you go to start the car, turn the key to 'ignition' position, let the gauges do their dance and wait till the ignition sequence is finished; then start the car. Sometimes this helps.

I'll go with acroy who posted above. After installing the LMC5 I still got the pull key wait 10 second message, but no lock up. I found that the only time I get that message is if I insert the key and immediately go to start the engine. Then I would get the message, sometimes and sometimes not. However, I have found that if I insert the key, turn on, without hitting the starter, let the guages do their full initial sweep all the way and settle all the way back down and then hit the starter I never, not once, have gotten the pull key message. I cannot offer any explanation as to why it works that way but it does. Hope this is a help to you.

I think it gives the BCM time to set or align. I have talked to Richard about this and that is what he suggested.
YES--turn key on for afew seconds--than start car--Richard says to do that always! I installed mine around 4 years ago along with brown wire mod--ive always let the guages sweep than start car--NEVER any messages-- Also Black04--double check your work with the BCM--cut the brown wire right?

I understand the LMC5 is "THE" way to go these days, but have you considered maybe trying the old CLB that came out before that did? I've had the CLB installed since 2007 and haven't had any issues at all. I do have the LMC5 in my trunk as a backup but I'm not going to change it out just because. I have also never had to turn the key on and wait for the gauges to get done testing or had the message, I usually just turn it to start.

I too have the LMC5 in the trunk and am rolling the dice and hope i never need it.
Yes cut the brown wire BUT turn key and wait until gauges sweep--that works every time to get NO codes--It lets the bcm wake up as Richard-Compliance Parts- says

Looks like it would be better to just do the brown wire deal and be done with it when U install the LMC mod to keep from going back into the BCM and rolling around in the footwell.
I was getting the pull key and I did the brown wire mod. Still if I don't wait for the gauges to sweep I occasionally get the pull key error. Got to go slow to be fast! I haven't had the fuel cut off since adding the LMC5.

Takes a total of 5 seconds for gauges to sweep and settle--Takes 10 seconds if you get Pull key message-A REAL TRUE NO BRAINER !!!
I got Richard on the phone!!! Apparently GM needs someone who can build a BCM that works. I installed the LMC5 correctly and plugged in the brown wire BUT I did not cut the other brown wire that loops back into the LMC5. Apparently the BCMs are different on C5s so there isn't ONE fix. For the '04 the brown wire needs to be inserted and the other brown wire that loops back in to the LMC5 needs to be cut. According to Richard everyone buying the LMC5 for their C5 shouldn't do the brown wire thing because it can cause more problems. So if you are having the "pull the key the key for10 seconds" (don't believe the message, it doesn't take 10 seconds), buy the LMC5 and follow the directions CAREFULLY. If you still have a problem call Richard 855 565 8388. May Richard live forever or at least another 30 years.
