Had a Mechanic recommend potentially utilizing 20w 50 oil in my 2002 c5 z51 with 160k miles and an oil leak issue. He said using that and maybe Lucas stop leak. I was going to use titan sealer instead of Lucas but was wondering if the 20w 50 would even be necessary if I am using titan? Also if I did use 20w 50, I would of course use synthetic. My other alternative of course being mobile one high mileage 5w-30 synthetic as the manual recommends this. Any and all info much appreciated. Thank you

I just had a bad experience with attempting to fix the oil leak. It doesn't leak very bad as it is. I figured as much I will stick with mobile 1 high mileage 5w 30

If you're not going to fix the leak your second alternative is the better and cheaper way to go. Just use whatever manufacturer of oil you prefer high mileage product. Those have additives to soften the seals. No higher viscosity or treatment will fix your leak but those high mileage oils typically slow them. 160k isn't that high of mileage but after nearly 20 years your seals are either worn, hard or have worn into the metal they were sealing.
