PCV Hose Assembly
I didn’t have any extra cash lying around for this, so I came up with my own solution, and it costs me less than $10 at my local NAPA Auto Parts store.
I purchased a 3/8 “Y” vacuum fitting, part number CRB 2638, and a foot and a half of 3/8 inch rubber fuel line. I had fuel line left over, but I used part of it to replace another vacuum line that had started to crack, and still had more to toss in my toolbox for later.
Steps: I cut three pieces of fuel line, roughly 2 1/2 inches in length, attached them to the Y fitting, then attached the existing PCV piping to the new assembly. I had to cut a couple of inches off the plastic PCV pipe end to make it fit in the car, as the new assembly was now longer than the factory one, but it’s air tight, doesn’t leak, and it was a lot cheaper than a trip to the dealer.
I hope this helps anyone else who might run into this problem, because it saved my butt, and didn’t hurt my wallet.
Per request, I’ve added a marked up photo of a similar PCV assembly that more closely resembles what I did to mine. This one is for a 4th generation Camaro, but is very close to the C5’s. FYI - the small rubber line on the top of this photo is the same one I replaced that was cracking. It’s the end that attaches to the passenger side valve cover.
