I've had p0410 since I purchased the car, and luckily haven't had to pass emmissions, but I still want to fix it.
Last summer I replaced the pump completely and it definitely ran sometimes, because I could hear a high pitched whine coming from it when it ran, and it seemed to run when it was supposed to, aka while the car was cold then shut off after awhile. I still would get the code set after a few hours worth of driving.
Recently I haven't been hearing the pump run at all ever, and of course I still get the code. I fear water keeps getting in the pump and ruining it as a side issue possibly. I'll assume the pump is in working condition for now, and just not being activated, because I did have the code even when the pump did seem to work fine.
I did notice yesterday that there was strong air coming out of the water drain area that spans across the front window. Is that supposed to happen? Is that a vaccum leak? Could that be causing the issue?
Also the drivers side air vent solenoid thing that pushes air into the drivers side vents broke a few months ago, and I haven't bothered replacing it because it doesn't really upset me, but maybe that is causing the air to blow out of the water drain and is isn't p0410 causing that.
Please submit suggestions if you can help,
There are a few components that will cause the 0410 to set and not just the pump not working...it can be wiring, the AIR solenoid or shutoff valve inop, or the vacuum lines which go to the solenoid and the SOV. Not knowing your skillset I'm not going to get deep into the troubleshooting.
Here is some info on how this system works .
As C5 Diag mention several parts can go wrong , but P0410 indicate that none of the front O2 sensor get any air from the pump indicating a pump /solonoid problem .
If you had access to a bidirectional scanner like Tech2 you can manually force on solonoid and pump and verify which component failing .
Pictures below show the location of the solonoid (passenger side) and the pump and shut off valve ( driver side) , check tubings for damages ,
If you are familiar with how relays works it is possible to bypassthese relays and check if air sol valve and air pump starts
The solenoid tubing that is labeled "AC Hose" is completely missing on my car... Previous owners messed up the front bumper so I guess they removed it. Also the fuse for the air pump was broken which explains why I haven't heard it turn on at all recently, I'm not sure why it blew though.
What exactly does the ac hose do? I've definitely never had it before, and the pump has turned on properly in the past with the absense of it. So what does it do and is that the likely cause of this code then? I'm gonna go replace the fuse right now but I assume it will either blow again or still get the code even though it's working, like in the past.
Yea I get that I need to replace it, I'll do that, but what is it even used for? The name would suggest something with the AC but my ac works fine so like, that's it's purpose besides clearing my code (if it even does fix it that is)?
Thanks for all the info guys, especially oelarse, that was really useful stuff.

AC = air compresser not the air conditioner

The AIR system is active during the first couple of minutes during cold starts to reduce emissions.. It has nothing to do with your AC system.
Most ppl tune this stuff out
The AC hose is leading vacuum through the air solonoid along the front bumper and open the Diverter Valve allowing airpump to feed air to both checkvalves shown in the photoes .
The vacuum is sourced from rear of the intake manifoil .
Okay so I think I get it now, the hose I am missing applies a vaccume to the output of the air pump that allows the air to flow through when a vaccum is applied.
I will buy a long tube online and try to get it hooked up. I just need to figure out how to get to the solenoid now, it must be behind some stuff near the passenger battery from what you guys have said but I wasn't able to locate it without removing stuff yet.
Also replacing the fuse did cause the air pump to work again.
