Default Headlight adjuster rebuild or replacements?

I swapped over to the SharpLight Bi-LEDs, and while they are bright they are aiming to low. While I had everything apart, I soaked the adjusters and got them spinning freely, but I didn't realize they weren't doing anything for aiming.

With all back together, the left to right adjuster is working, but the up/down adjuster per the golden rod spins but nothing happens. I took it back apart and open up the gearbox. I see the golden rod gear spinning as well as the other gear, but the bracket that bolts to the headlight doesn't move.

Anyone have a video or DIY to remove all the threaded shafts and gears so I can figure out why it doesn't work. I hate to start just pulling on stuff and risk breaking the plastic.

ThanksKerry

Agreed, but those are for the horizontal axis or left to right. Those work fine on my car, but I need the vertical axis or up/down adjuster.

Before you buy new parts, I suggest checking the ball end of the adjuster on the headlight frame. If the golden rod is spinning freely and the gearbox is okay, the ball seat that snaps onto the headlight frame most likely is spinning, rather than staying locked and allowing the screw to move the frame. This is what happened on my car, FYI.

Just to make sure I'm understanding correctly, you are referring to the end that has the metal bracket on it. I believe the ball goes into a plastic square?

If so, the square plastic piece spins on mine. Is that not correct? Should the square piece stay still? I've never seen one work correctly, but that makes sense.

Thanks,
Kerry

Right, the plastic square should not rotate. The threaded rod moved through it to move the headlight frame.

Wow, that's some good news. I saw before that someone sold the plastic square parts so I'll hunt them down and order some.

I kept thinking the threaded rods screwed in and out of the gear box, but I never realized the square pieces weren't supposed to spin so the headlight moved...lol
Thanks alot!

NP, it took me a minute to figure out the plastic square was rotating in my car, after I removed the headlight trim to see what the heck was going on. I ultimately broke my golden rod and ended up having to use a T15 Torx bit directly on the threaded rod going into the plastic square.
