Default Headlights work, Tail lights work only for signals.

I'm stumped. 98 Coupe. Running Radio Flyer headlight kit (Love it!), and have changed out Lightstalk on column. Checked fuses, and still have this issue:

Headlights on, Taillights don't light, nor does the dash cluster as it should if lights were on. Directional signals work, brake lights work, flashers work, just not the running lights. No DIC codes

Thoughts? All help appreciated.

If you have Twilight Sentinel, you could activate it through the DIC, and check everything. I had this same problem on my 2000 Vert. The headlights, and every other thing worked when turning them on....EXCEPT the dash and tail lights!! Tried Twilight Sentinel, and everything then worked fine. Turns out I had a burned connection from the Multi Function Switch. Got a new MFS, and bypassed that bad wire on the connector. All good now. Hope this helps.

Thanks! Not sure what twilight sentinel is or how to find it but I'll Google! At this point I'll try anything

I think it is the feature to have lights turned on automatically when it gets dark. MY 03Z does not have that feature. Select the options button and go through he menu and if U have it, it will be apparent.

Thanks! I had googled and found the option menu. I'll try it today when I get home from out of town.

Went through the Options functions and do not have Twilight Sentinel as an option. I guess I'll have to rip out the stalk again and try pinning it out to see if I can find an issue.

Check the harness connector plug where the MFS plugs into the main harness. This is where I had the bad connection. The plastic plug had actually started to melt! My MFS was also shot. Had 2 problems. Sorry for confusion on Twilight S., as I should've been clear that all models do not have this option. It's a nice option if you don't pull into the garage!! Then the lights come on in the dark garage, even in the daylight!! Most guys, including me, try it, then turn it off in the DIC. It's not really a desirable feature......

Thanks! I'll check that tomorrow. Hopefully it's a loose connection since I've replaced the MFS.

Finally pinned out the old and new MFS and found they're good. Checked the #6 fuse in passenger compartment and found that it was popped but looked good at a casual glance. Put in a new fuse, turned on lights and it popped again. For testing went to a 20a fuse, (TEMPORARY) and dash backlighting illuminated like it should, but not the taillights. Checked wire bundle and as expected, the brown wire that has power to the parking lights was warming up. Probably going to ground somewhere. Does anyone have pictures or drawing of where the harness runs so I can follow it looking for grounding of the brown wire?
20a fuse removed from circuit.

Found my issue that kept popping Fuse #6. I had installed a hyperflash relay and apparently it had an issue. I removed it and problem resolved. I then put it back and blew fuse. Tried with new relay, and all is well.
