Are you having the 1214 H C code in your DIC? I just redid mine yesterday. It might seem overwhelming at first but it's a pretty simple process, just takes a little elbow grease and light soldering knowledge. I spent approximately $32 to fix it myself by buying the necessary tools. From my experience, what took the longest was pulling the ECBM out and taking the module apart. Soldering took like 10 minutes. Then it's reapplying the silicone and waiting for it to cure and putting it back into the car (second longest). If that's not your thing, you can take it to ABS Fixer like bjones7131 mentioned above, but you'll still have to pull out the ECBM yourself to ship it to them. Personally though, at that point, you might as well take the next few extra steps to do it yourself. You'll save a few hundred in doing so.
is the ebcm on a 2000 c5 the same as on a 2001 ? can it be soldered the same way ?
No .
If you get the EBCM internal malfunction DTC all years of the EBCTM are not repairable and needs to be replaced .
The C1214 DTC on 01-04 is mainly caused by soldering issues or a defective relay supplying a 12volt to the ABS pump and valves .
My guess is that the high current is burning it's internal contact .
I have a 2000 ( old EBCM) and on my EBCTM you have one relay supplying 12 to the ABS pump and a second relay supplying 12 to the solonoid valves .
These relays seems more solid than the 01-04 relay and I do not think that I will get the C1214 (solonoid) or the C1217 (pump motor) DTC due to less current
split on these two relays .
I bought a cheap Caddillac EBCM (similar to my C5 ABS unit) to check if it was possible to replace these two relays if needed sometime in the future
I was able to replace these relays and here is a couple of photes from the job
thanks for information on the ( EBCM) , I guess I now have a good looking boat anchor for sale (LOL)
not really this happened a couple years ago but went away, all I did was clear all codes in the (DIC) nothing there until I changed my oil , when I zeroed the oil life it showed up , I guess I'll clear out all codes again an see what happens.
I do have my 2013 60th 427 anniversary car to drive when the weather gets better. I almost traded in my 2000 coupe on a C7 but it was two small on interior room, an I felt my car was worth more than what they offered. guess I'll wait for a C8 latter when the demand isn't so great.
