Default c6 diff swap help?

so i picked up a c6 diff, rear cradle, LCA's, rear mono leaf and diff mounts already, i need to swap the housing on the rear of my trans (maunal m12) to the c6 housing but unsure on witch i need?

i know i need one from 2006 or 2007 but there is 2 part numbers listed one for the 7.0L 89060075 and one for the 6.0L 19132778 can anyone tell me witch one will work for my c5 manual trans?

btw my trans is already swapped to the 30 spline output shaft did that when i upgraded a few years ago

If you have the 30 spline output shaft I am 95% sure you need the Z06 piece which is your first part number there. The regular one is for 27 spline...

Both parts are damn near impossible to find anymore though.

from what i can tell 2005 was 27 spline t56 and used the c5 diff, 06 & 07 used 30 spline t56 output shaft and resigned c6 diff and 08+ tr6060

from what i read there is a difference in a bearing that needs to come out of my tail housing extension and go in the new one but cant find out witch i need

base diff in 06-07 was still 27 spline im 99% sure. ive been researching putting a C6 diff in my car. I talked to a guy at RPM, and he basically confirmed this as well, said all I needed was an 06-07 base tail shaft, no other trans changes needed to mate with base 06-07 manual diff. The tail shaft housings are damn near impossible to find or they are $800 so im just rebuilding my stock diff in my 02.

Z06 was always 30 spline.

So what rear end did you get? base or Z06?

If you got a base, 06-07 manual diff, you probably got a 27 spline diff...

If you got an 08+ diff, I dont know what the TR6060 has in the base model. Im sure the Z06 TR6060 retained the 30 spline.

after wearing out the 27 spline stuff i upgraded to 30 spline built a 3 rib c5 diff that had the DTE brace so im not putting another c5 diff back in just not worth it!

i picked up a diff out of a low mile 2013 zr1 (30 spline) then got the other parts from a guy parting out a 2010 zo6 so now just need the tail housing then figure out what im going to do with the diff cooler lines, just cant find any solid info on what part number i need

I wasnt suggesting putting a c5 diff back in...

although did you blow up the built c5 diff?

If you have a ZR1 rear end you need the 06-07 Z06 tail shaft(which is your first part number listed above). that will be sized for 30 spline. If you get the standard one it will be for 27 spline and my guess is the hole is to small for a 30 spline shaft to exit. All you should need to do is shim the tail shaft to your trans. I think RPM sells a shim set. Tick performance also might.

You will need a BASE T56 tailshaft housing from 06-07. The reason you can't use Z06 housing is due to the extension shaft bearing. Base tailshaft housing has tapered bearing like the C5 T56 where the Z06 has square bearing.

This is removable tapered bearing race that's in all C5 and 06-07 base C6 T56.

This is 06-07 Z06 T56 with pressed in square bearing.

So its not the main output shaft size that makes the difference its the countershaft bearing setup.

Did you ever fix the issue? Were you able to get the Dif in the 05 t56?
