I got my 99 emissions tested today. Test consisted of me starting the car for them, then while it was running they plugged into the OBD2 port and took the gas cap off to check it.
Once I got back in my car I noticed the Security light was illuminated on the dash and the clock had been reset to 1:00.
One I turned the car off and back on the security light went away clock was still off.
Anything to worry about? I've already had to replace the entire cluster due to electrical gremlins in it.
Plugging into the DLC should have nothing to do with your security light and clock...what “gremlins” did you have that you had to replace IPC ??...I’d reset your clock and drive on !!
Sorry to hear. Always frustrating when someone else messes with you car. I haven't experienced this on my Vette but I had a similar thing happen on my E36 BMW. Turned out the fuse running the clock and climate control blew. Seems like your clock is working so I doubt a fuse blew but it does sound like something temporarily lost power and came back.
Do you have an OBD scanner? If so, try plugging it in and see if it still communicates with the car. Also would be a good idea to check the fuse that runs the OBD port. If I remember correctly, it usually shares power with the aux power (cigarette lighter). If you have no power going to the aux power then a fuse probably blew.
The previous IPC issues I experienced was RPM gauge died, DIC screen was cycling like crazy though options, seatbelt chime was extra loud and constant, something else that escapes my mind.. Not all started at the same time.
That monitor doesn’t have to be ready in California most states allow up to 2 not ready there was not reason for them to touch it .
I've never had a CA smog test where they didn't check the gas cap itself... and believe me I pay a lot of attention during smog tests because my vehicles have been "questionable".
Ya but when u pull up with off road mods clearly showing I guess maybe they tend to turn a blind eye I would .....long as it passed the scanner here ya go have a good one ....
