Just wanted to give everybody a quick update on the Motor. With 2k on the new motor (and not a single problem), I decided that a little road trip was in order.
I packed up the car and headed Cross Country.. It was more of a get there trip, than a lets take our time trip.
With the help of a friend we drove from the East Coast (D.C.) to the West Coast (L.A.) straight. (U.S. 40) The trip took 46 hours and was very exhausting. (2874 miles)
The Car ran Cool at 178-182 degrees the whole trip. The motor stayed running the whole time except when I had to stop off to eat and in New Mexico to put new tires on.
I am truly impressed the the reliability of the motor and again.. want to say thanks to ARE for building a strong motor.
Just got back from PRI (performance racing industry) show in INDY. Darton has a new LS-1 wet sleeve that will allow bores to 4.155" with 4" stroke that = 434 CID. Sleeve is same material as Top Fuel cars.
Several people had the sleeved blocks on display. LPE already has them in the literuature.
Have you heard of any engines on the road with this sleeve yet?
Cool. Glad to hear it man.
Better tell us how much (little) time did it take you to cover 2000miles with that motor under the hood :reddevil :reddevil :reddevil

I hear ya for sure :D These motors certainly put out awesome hp but they are TORQUE MONSTERS too :D Buckmaster:
Thanks for the info, I'd rather have cubes than a fan anyday.
Brad
See my signature: with a cam chosen for drivability, and tuning optimized for real-world conditons, I'm producing the numbers in my sig. My only remaining issue is to tuneout some part throttle idle unreliability: not bad for a big block with this much power. I've got about 2000 miles on the new engine: the only problems have been those of tuning.
I suspect Lou Gigliotti's headers are responsible for the amazing ammont of torque available. As always, speed costs money: "how fast do you want to go?"
A huge congrats to you my friend about your recent purchase! Awesome man i know you have been dying to do the this for some time now. I responded to your IM on the forum and that doesn't seem to want to work anymore and i emailed you and more frustrating that did not go through either!
Go Figure huh? Let me know how radical of a cam your going to run and i would assume you will do a 114 lope on the A4 vs. what i'm doing, going with a 112 lobe on A4!
That sounds like a fun drive across the country!!
My ARE resleeved 436ci LS1 is still running great after 10,000+ miles this past season.. It is sleeping in the garage now though because of Canadian winter! :(
