My 2001 Coupe needs new tires this spring. As far as i know The TPS sensors have never been changed. The car had the original tires on it when I bought it. They were all working great when I last drove the car. I have been told the batteries can be replaced in some TPS sensors. Is this possible on the ones on my 2001 Coupe? If not, should I replace them when buying new tires even though they were working great when I last drove the car? Thank You for your help.

So the Tpms are 20 years old, I would buy new ones. If they fail you have to have the tire dismounted to change them out. I just put new tires on my 02 and bought new Schrader 20117 tpms for about $100

Order a set of Schraders from Rock Auto. Don't use aftermarket no name "universal" ones - use Schraders as they made the OEM units. I just bought 4 when I did my tires. It is a complete pain when a battery dies as you will be constantly getting warnings and resetting the DIC. One of mine died and within 2 weeks they were all dead. I couldn't wait to replace my tires. One tip - when you get them check the date codes and program to the car so you won't have any surprises once they are installed.

You do realize you have 2 threads open on this, right? I agree about replacing all 4 for around $100. Too bad we '97-'00 owners can't buy them that cheap!!

If you buy tires from Discount Tire they sell Schrader sensors. Their website says 50 bucks each but I got them down to 30 each installed and with a warranty when I got my new tires earlier this week.
They will pair them to your car too!
I'm happy!
